Equus:
I was betting on it being based upon a theatrical play, and it is. This film has dark and menacing monologues that I was only used to by stuff like Macbeth. It's also one of the most realistic, most educational and most shocking profiles of an insane person and the whole procedure of him being cured. It's full of dark poetry and atmospheric imagery. Everything is thought out and seems to be placed exactly where it's supposed to be. No filler, even when it does have a long duration of more than 2 hours, and the plot just gets more exciting from scene to scene. Also: this is definately a horror movie, it's a psychological horror movie. So don't watch this thinking that it's just a good old thriller, it's horrifying. 10/10 -------------------- |

Inception.
Fucking brilliant. Most original action movie in years. So complicated I could write two pages of shit about it and you wouldn't have any idea what I was talking about. Well, I could explain the plot... I dunno. I can't tell you WHY inception is awesome. Just see it. -------------------- This is not a Motley Crue cover band

Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex:
Woody Allen is still white as fuck, which is funny in his other movies, but in terms of the topic of sex it just becomes a Monty Python kinda flick. During the film the viewer is presented with sex-related questions about transvestites or orgasms, and then Woody appears in little short films that are supposedly the answer to that question. At the end there is a giant boob drowning people with milk. It was entertaining but pretty much the worst Woody Allen movie I've seen, it just feels too much like a bad british slapstick tv show. He's not really censoring anything and he does know about the details of sex, he just treats it with too much comedy, so that most of the topic becomes ridiculously overparodied. 5/10 Faces Of Death: Beautiful old film sequences of death, lovely color schemes and a pretty cool narrator as well as moody soundtrack definately turn this into a deserved cult classic. If you're unfamiliar with the concept: you get to see lots of scenes of death, most based on actual events and made to look as realistic as possible. Combined with the oldschool feeling of the footage it's not hard to take most of this for real, and there might even be some scenes in it that truly are real, but it's definately the less brutal ones. But brutal? Actually none of this is disgusting or repulsive for the average internet user, it's just a very well done social criticism. I'm not surprised that this particular film got banned everywhere, it's not the images, it's the message that the images deliver that politicians and society would be afraid of. Maybe this is the only product media has every produced that could easily get people to start caring about nature, stop acting stupid, stop smoking, stop abusing animals etc etc etc. Very interesting. 10/10 -------------------- |

Enter The Dragon:
Bruce Lee stuff is in a way similar to Bud Spencer & Terrence Hill movies, in the way that the plot is absolute garbage, however still very much charming and that the characters are absolut garbage, however still very much charming and that the fighting is awesome. The dialogue is funny, Bruce Lee's fighting performance is great and the little fighting stages and ideas are also pretty creative. You'll get pumped up from this type of film but you won't actually see any interesting new moves or astounding stunts, it's all rather realistic in comparision to new martial arts productions. Which is somewhat a good aspect as well. The story is Street Fighter-esque, a tournament held by a villain on an island, and Bruce Lee is the good agent that has to stop him. It's also interesting how the entire Jackie Chan & Owen Willson dynamic was already explored in this movie, since Lee is also getting a blonde white friend to fight alongside him. Everyone is stealing from everyone. 7/10 Fist Of Fury: I enjoyed the seriousness of this movie. It might be the only heroic-themed martial arts movie that ever deals with the facts of violence and their consequences before the law. Bruce Lee plays the role of someone that gets all of his friends killed by the mob, he then decides to take revenge and kills all of the bad guys. At the end there is actually a scene of the police taking him in custody, no hollywood heroism, no censorship. I think that it's one of the rare martial arts films that are somewhat realistically portraying what fighting against street thugs really means. The soundtrack is total shit by the way, the acting could be better as well. The fighting itself was well performed but didn't bring anything new to the table. 6/10 -------------------- |
